Awards of the First European Song Festival given out
First Junior High School's European Song Festival took place in Local Culture Center " Centrum" in Zawiercie on 22 May 2003. Junior High School No. 2 was the main organizer and originator and the president of Zawiercie MA Ryszard Mach assumed the patronage. This festival is the continuation of annual EU Member States Days and the continuation of work of European Club " Euro -Jura". The idea of festival, which would be a promotion of European Union, originated in school no.2 in autumn. Then all junior high schools from all regions were invited to cooperate in this project. One point of the meeting was a drawing of EU countries.
The festival started with singing the hymn of European Union by Junior High School's No. 2 choir supervised by MA J. Burzyńska. Next all invited guests, students were welcomed and the jury was chosen. Interactive presentations "postcards" from Europe prepared by MA J. Drosik preceded student's musical performances.

M. Jaworska with vocal-dancing group - "Buy for you"

Ireland - Junior High School No. 3 in Zawierciu
Vocal gropu - "Love is blue"

Great Britain - Junior High School No. 2
S. Lembke with vocal-dancing group "It's Ranking Man"
Supervisor: MA J. Burzyńska
Sweden - Zespół Szkół nr 13 in Kromołowie
Vocal gropu - "Super truper"
Supervisor W. Foryś
Italy - Junior High School No. 1 in Zawiercie
B. Kucera, G. Galewicz - "Tu cosa fai starevera"

Songs presented by students together with choreographical arrangements were prepared in professional way and the audience reacted very enthusiastically. "Advertising block" - prepared by students from Junior High School No. 2 with MA K. Pacan is also worth paying attention. Customs and cooking preferences of people from Europe shown in amusing way ravished the audience. After the performances the voting started. Organizers of the festival did their best and prepared screen on which the audience could follow the voting.
Junior High School from Kroczyce took the first prize, second- Junior High School No.1 and third- Junior High School No. 2 from Zawiercie. At the end of festival the headmaster of Junior High School No. 2 thanked the performers, their supervisors and managements of schools. He also said that he hoped that European Song Festival would be organized cyclically and would be written in region's calendar for good.
