Junior High School No.2, situated on Niedzialkowskiego Street, came into being on the basis of Primary School No.2. It is the oldest school building in the district of Zawiercie, the monument of class 0. The school was designed by engineer Hugon Kudera and the building was started in 1906. The school building in Swedish Gothic style was built thanks to the support of P. Strzeszewski- the manager of Joint Stock Company and taxing of all TAZ workers (1% of their monthly earnings). It made the sum of 60 000 roubles but the total cost of building and equipping amounted to 150 000 roubles. As the building was equipped with central heating, lightning, electrical bell, sewage system, cinematograph and telephone (since 1919), it was the most modern school building in Zaglebie. 22 lecture halls were opened on 12th December 1907. Konstanty Piotrowski became the first headmaster of the school. He worked there for 25 years and only his bad state of health forced him to resign from his post. The time when he held his position is considered to be the most significant period in the history of the school. Coming back to 12th December 1907, the school staff consisted of 22 teachers and two catechists looking after about 1000 pupils. But the number of schoolboys and schoolgirls increased to 1707 in 1909-1910 and in 1913 there were 2016 pupils taught by 27 teachers. In the same year the Commemorative Book dedicated to the priest Franciszek Zientara was edited. Nowadays it is one of the most valuable memento of the school. On 1st September 1999 Junior high School came into being, the largest one in our district. 22 well-equipped classrooms, computerized classrooms with connection to the Internet (SDI), language classrooms and possibility of learning such languages as English, German, French and russian, a nice gym, sport classes, highly-skilled teaching staff, make a base on which our school builds level of education services, prestige and practical use of acquired knowledge.
